Dear Family and Friends,
So this is our very belated "Christmas letter". Thank you all for the cards and letters we received. You are all so important to us and we are so fortunate to have you in our lives.
All of our kids and grandkids were here at Christmas for about 12 days and for our Utah State Capitol photo shoot!
Last year our awesome family spent some great times in Lake Powell, St. George, Seattle, Midway and South Jordan. We are currently planning our first family Disneyland trip for April!
We delayed our annual greetings in anticipation of our most exciting news.
Craig, Robyn and Randy have accepted a mission call for the LDS Church to serve in Sao Paulo, Brazil, starting this summer, for 18 months!
Craig is anxious to retire from his city attorney positions, to share his legal skills and experience, and volunteer as an assistant to the Office of General Council in the Brazil area. Robyn and Randy will be assigned to various duties which could include Temple, Family History, humanitarian, and miscellaneous "missionary" work. Craig served 2 years as a young, single missionary in Brazil over 40 years ago. No one doubts his abilities to "refresh" his language proficiency. More concern for Robyn & Randy

In our efforts to stay in touch, we plan to send periodic emails with a "link" to a blog with photos.
(thanks in advance to our blogging goddess daughter, for her help) If you would like to be on our email list, please send us a message to: robyn.hall@ldschurch.org
The name of the blog will be: http://hallsonamission.blogspot.com/
The following is a list of "FAQ"s
When will you leave?
Sometime this summer. The goal is July 1st but Brazilian visas are complicated. Not sure why.
Why is Randy going with you? Will he be a missionary?
We told the brethren in charge that we would like to bring our son because he has some challenges and is somewhat dependent on us. They said "no problem". We asked Randy if he'd like to go. He was surprised, thought about it and said "YES!" He will be set apart as a missionary and wait for an assignment based on his interests and abilities and what they can arrange for him.
What about your house?
We have some good friends, who will live in our home while we are gone. They plan to sell their house and need a temporary place.
What about your dog?
Plan A: There's a farm in Delta. She stayed there 3 times while we traveled before. They like her and she likes them. But 18 months? Hopefully she'll do fine.
Plan B: Any volunteers? She's the best dog on the planet but...... she is a dog. Even if she doesn't think so.
What about St. George house?
To be determined.... not a serious issue - it was vacant for a long time before we bought it.
Are you excited?
All three of us are very excited and a little nervous, not knowing for sure what to expect.
Thinking about all that we want/need to do before we leave is somewhat overwhelming.
Will you have a car?
If and when we need a car, we will have access. It's our understanding that Craig's office, the Temple, our apartment, shopping, laundry facilities, and probably the Brazilian MTC are all very close together, walking distance. There is also a new Metro station right there. Traffic jams in the city can stretch 100 - 200 miles. ?
Where will you attend church?
We were told that we would be a part of an English speaking branch at the MTC.
How big is Sao Paulo?
Brazil's largest city is 588 sq. miles - 11 million people in the city limits - 19 million in the metropolitan area.
What's the weather like?
In the summer it may rain 4 days a week. Temperature typically varies from 52 to 83 F. year round.
How far is the beach?
On a good traffic day, an hour away.
Will family visit you?
WE HOPE!
What's your apartment like?
No idea~ except probably very small...
So that's all for now.
We love and will miss you all, more than we can say,
Craig & Robyn
